Today Is National Voter Registration Day

The office of Harris County Tax Assessor-Collector & Voter Registrar Ann Harris Bennett is conducting countywide voter registration events celebrating National Voter Registration Day.

National Voter Registration Day is a nonpartisan civic holiday celebrating our nation’s democracy. It was first observed in 2012, and more than five million voters registered to vote on this day to date. Today’s events are designed to ensure that every eligible voter can register to vote, especially before the October 10, 2023, deadline to vote in the November 7, 2023, election.

“Today, the Harris County Tax Office outreach team is working throughout the day to raise awareness about National Voter Registration Day and the upcoming voter registration deadline,” said Bennett. “Please contact my office with any questions about registering to vote or if you would like to host a voter registration event for your organization in the future.”

The Tax Office provides information, materials, training, and assistance to all voters and organizations to ensure everyone eligible is registered to vote. Additionally, voter registration services and training are offered in Spanish, Chinese, and Vietnamese.

The deadline to register to vote in time for the November 7, 2023, election is October 10, 2023. All eligible unregistered voters wishing to vote in November must register by October 10. Currently, registered voters are being asked to review their voter registration records to make any corrections or changes to their voter registration before the October 10 cut-off date. Visit www.hctax.net for information on how to register to vote and how to update your voter registration.
