Harris County Voter Registrar’s Statement Regarding Secretary of State’s 2021-2022 Election Audit Report

Harris County Tax Assessor-Collector and Voter Registrar Ann Harris Bennett and her Voter Registration Department have reviewed the Texas Secretary of State’s 2021-2022 Comprehensive Election Audit Report findings.

The results address issues that dogged the now-defunct Harris County Elections Administrator’s Office. The Tax Office began to correct these issues once voter registration duties were returned to the Tax Office on September 1, 2023.

According to the report, “Harris County has worked to align their voter registration data to the statewide system through the systematic review of individual voter records to ensure accuracy between the two systems.”

The Tax Office’s Voter Registration Department syncs voter registration data with the Secretary of State’s information every month to achieve greater accuracy between both entities. This is an example of the Tax Office’s commitment to maintaining a high standard of accuracy, efficiency, and meticulous record-keeping to ensure the public’s trust in the reliability of Harris County’s voter registration data.

Harris County Voter Registrar Ann Harris Bennett is proud of the work her Voter Registration Department does every day to register eligible voters and maintain a trustworthy and reliable living document: the Harris County voter registration roll.
