Annette Ramirez has been sworn in as Harris County Tax Assessor-Collector and Voter Registrar

Annette Ramirez took the oath of office to serve as Harris County’s newly elected Tax Assessor-Collector in a private ceremony attended by family and close friends. The swearing in took place today at 11 a.m. in the board room at the Aldine Independent School District’s M.B. “Sonny” Donaldson Administration Building.

Pastor T. Leon Preston II of the Yale Street Baptist Church in Houston opened with a prayer. The Honorable Kyle Carter, Judge of the Harris County 125th Civil District Court, after reflecting on the many times Ramirez appeared in his courtroom, administered the oath of office, officially marking the start of her term.

The location of the ceremony held special significance for Ramirez, who dedicated over 20 years of service to Aldine ISD. During her tenure with the school district, she served as Assistant General Counsel, managing in-house property tax collection, litigation, and real estate matters. Her extensive experience highlights the expertise and insight she brings to her new role.

“I am grateful for the trust that the voters have placed in me, and eager to get to work,” said Ramirez. “I have worked on behalf of government entities for over 20 years to ensure equity, accuracy and efficiency in tax assessing and collecting, and am ready to put that experience to work in a manner that demonstrates value to taxpayers and builds equity into our processes and procedures.”

Ramirez is a native of El Paso, and a proud mother of three children. Her son graduated from the Texas Maritime Academy at Texas A&M University in Galveston in 2021 and currently works as a licensed 3rd Mate Officer for an international shipping company. Her twins are recent high school graduates now attending college in the Houston area.
