Harris County Tax Office

• Texas Department of Motor Vehicles (TxDMV) printed approximately 200,000 renewal notices in error for Texas automobile owners living in emissions counties. The fee's are correct if renewing online or in person in December. Harris County is an emissions county. Click here for more information.
• Automobile appointments are required for vehicle transactions such as title transfers, homemade trailers, new residents (vehicles that have never been registered in Texas). An appointment is NOT required for vehicle registration renewals, special plates, replacement registration/plates, disabled placards, or disabled plates.
• The Texas Department of Motor Vehicles (TxDMV) handles apportioned registrations, lost or destroyed vehicle titles, and oversize/overweight permits. Please visit www.txdmv.gov or call 1(888)-368-4689.

2024 Workshop Schedule

Tax Assessor-Collector Ann Harris Bennett wants to help taxpayers lower their tax burden, through protesting their values and applying for exemptions. The Property Tax Workshops will cover how taxes are calculated, types of exemptions available, how to protest your value and payment plans for delinquent taxes.
